વિતી ગઈ 

એક લાંબી બપોર ,

બારી માં થી ડોકીયુ કર્યું ,

તો જોઈ  

અશોક વૃક્ષ ની ડાળીઓ ,

જાણે 

આભ ને આંબવા ચાલી ;

નથી શું જાણતો અશોક ?

કે પછી 

નથી એને પરવા ?

કે ગુલમોર ની ડાળીઓ 

વળી વળી વાંકી 

શું કામ અડપલાં કરે છે  !

ધખ્યો છે વૈશાખ 

' ને 

ગુલમોર ની ડાળીઓ માં 

નથી રહ્યા પાન 

કે નથી રહ્યા ફૂલ  ;

પણ આવશે એક દિન વાદળો 

વરસશે વાદળો ,

લાવશે પાંદડા , લીલાછમ પાંદડા ,

ત્યારે શું વાંકો વળી

ચૂમશે ગુલમોર ને , અશોક ?

જે ધરતી માં 

ધરબાયાં છે જેના મૂળ 

એ ધરતી ને કદી 

જોઈ શકશે અશોક ?

ગુલમોર ના પ્યાર ને 

પરખશે શું અશોક  ?
